Once a week or so since the beginning of September, when I broke my wrist and couldn’t play guitar, I’ve been singing and playing music with my friends Laura and Kara that I met at an open mic in August. Meeting them, Kara’s husband Colin, and their dog Mira — who I think barks just the right amount — has been a major bright spot in a few months which have been mixed to say the least.

Since we mostly practice together in an attic, I started referring to us as Attic Owls. I have no reason for the owls part, except that I thought it was funny and Kara and Laura were kind enough to go along with it. Here are some photos I shot in the attic with the Nikon FM2 and an on-camera flash.

Since Kara got a piano for Christmas, we’ve also started practicing at her new house, which is just a few blocks up from the attic house, where everyone was living together previously.

I probably should have narrowed these down a bit more, but I like these photos of my friends too much to pick. Hopefully at some point in the future I’ll have some photos of us performing together somewhere!

Oh, and so she’s not left out, here’s a photo of the lovely Mira the dog.
