Trying Out Harman Phoenix

I got my negatives back from the lab and finished scanning this roll of Harman Phoenix 200 that I shot using my Pentax PC35AF-M. In some of the photos, I think it kind of worked, and in others, not as much. It’s definitely an effect and a lot of the shots come out looking surprisingly dark and low-res. I’m not sure if I’ll try it again yet. Probably at least once in a different camera.

Killingsworth & Mississippi

I recently took a walk in North Portland starting at N Killingsworth Street, up Albina and Mississippi, and back with my Olympus Trip 35 and a roll of Kodak Portra 400. I've been in North Portland the entire time I've lived here, and I've always loved how varied it is. On parts of Killingsworth it can be a little grungy, and not far up on Mississippi it's full out outdoor dining and shops.

I lived a couple of blocks from here when I moved to Portland in 2009. Half of Monsoon Thai used to be a laundromat, and I’d go wash my clothes there once a week. I think they were connected, but I’m actually not sure. I always called it “Laundromat Thai.”

The Trip 35’s automatic exposure does pretty well, but it seems to get confused sometimes and underexpose a little bit. It definitely works best in bright daylight.

This last one was taken a couple days later in front of the world famous Kenton Club during a TWIRL queer disco event.
