One of the things I like best about living in Portland is having a pretty good light rail system, called the MAX. It’s especially convenient for me since the MAX yellow line gets on about a seven-minute walk from my house and from there takes roughly twenty minutes to get downtown.
My main complaint, which I don’t hear talked about much, is that the transit system is so heavily centered around downtown being a hub that if you are going anywhere else, the trips can get very long. North Portland to SE Hawthorne, for example, goes from being a fifteen-minute car ride to over an hour on public transit since you first need to go downtown to make a transfer. I digress.
Something I haven’t done very much with my photography so far is ask to take someone’s photo. This time, however, I ended up meeting a very nice person named Ebony and her dog, Phoenix, who were on their way home. You’d never suspect it now, since he looks so well cared for, but Ebony met Phoenix when he was abandoned and living on the street. He seems really lucky to have found such a great friend to take him in.

The rest of the photos I took were of various people and things I saw downtown. My favorite is probably the one of a lady riding her bike up SW Naito Parkway. I shoot a lot at 1/125 because I like how it allows a little bit of motion to show up while still being reasonably fast.
